We are proud of our MaxxContent team for partnering with Vanderbilt University’s Accelerator Project. This program provides college students and recent graduate students with real world application practices combined with their classroom learning experience during this four-week certificate program. MaxxContent, known for their E-Books and Learning Management Software, is aiming to enter the college textbook market. So, the task for the Accelerator teams was to strategize a plan to make the textbook buying process easier and less time-consuming for college students. The teams presented many digital-based solutions ranging from digital book loans to gamification to virtual classroom applications. Also, the teams provided many ideas for marketing strategies ranging from Instagram and Facebook campaigns to having student brand ambassadors at freshman orientation. Overall, this was a great...
We appreciate everyone who came out to celebrate our 10th anniversary party earlier this month! As you may already know, we are moving our office to the North Capitol area, which is close to First Tennessee Park. We feel very fortunate that DevDigital has grown and thrived so much in the past ten years that we now need 7,500 square feet of space as opposed to our previous space of 4,000 square feet in the Berger Building. Currently, during the renovation process of our new office space, we are busily at work in E|SPACES in Belle Meade. We are looking forward to moving into our new offices at the Tennessee Education Association building on 801 2nd Avenue N. in September. To read more about our move, click here for more details about our transition featured in Nashville Post.
There have been many conversations in Nashville recently about how to improve our public transportation system to meet the needs of our growing population. Perhaps you have noticed in the past couple of months an influx of men and women flying around the downtown area on electrical scooters. This new form of transportation was one solution offered by a company called Bird. The company was founded in 2017, and its main vision was to provide a shared transportation system that was environmentally friendly, user friendly, and friendly on the rider’s wallet.
A Bird scooter is the ideal mode of transportation for a person who needs to get to a place that might be too far to walk, yet too close to call a Lyft or an Uber. The user simply downloads the Bird app on his or her smartphone, which pulls up a map locating the closest Bird scooters that are available to ride. After finding a, ...
We’re moving! We are a little sentimental about leaving our beloved office space at the historic Berger building; however, with the ongoing success and growth at DevDigital, we need a bigger space to reach the needs of our team and our clients.
The Berger Building is a historic landmark on Rosa L. Parks Blvd. in downtown Nashville and has been operating as a space for local businesses to operate since 1926. In 2012, we felt very fortunate to move into a building that is on the list of the National Register of Historic Places. At that time, we had only six employees and had not yet discovered the potential of the basement space below (if you’ve attended a DevDigital party, you’ve surely checked out the “best kept secret party room” in Nashville.) Speaking of the “best kept secret party room” in Nashville, in the past six years we have hosted TONS of celebrations and emptied hundreds of...
What is LaborLinc?
LaborLinc is a better way to vertically integrate processes required while managing a part time workforce. For example, part-time employees no longer have to rely on post-it notes, text messages, or notebooks to keep up with their shift information. LaborLinc simplifies this process of managing part-time employees’ work to easily have access to this information in one organized place.
How Does LaborLinc work?
LaborLinc is user friendly because of its basic platform. The following outlines the functionality of the app.
Orders are created in LaborLinc and visible to both the clients and LaborLinc Admin through their portals.
LaborLinc sends employees invitations through the app, and the employees have the option to accept or decline each shift.
Supervisors clock the hours worked during an event.
Hours worked and payroll info are tracked and visible in the...
If you are planning to take some vacation time and travel in the United States or perhaps even abroad, the following apps will make your trip easier and allow you to have a stress-free, relaxing vacation.
Tripit is an all-around great travel app that will help you stay organized and take the guesswork out of planning your own itinerary whether your travel plans take you across states or across countries. Travelers who fly frequently will find this app to be extremely helpful because it keeps all of your boarding passes, hotel reservations, car rentals, and restaurant reservations in one place to create a mastery itinerary for your trip. Another great feature of Tripit is that you can share your master itinerary with others who need to know when your flight departs and arrives and where you’re staying. This is all done automatically through the app, no...
We were thrilled to work with Time Miner to launch their app that is revolutionizing the way professionals bill their clients for their time used with a smartphone to talk and to text. Before this app, professional would have to go through the time-consuming process of billing by making notes with pencil and paper, scrolling through phone records, and recalling phone conversations and text messages by memory to keep up with billable time. Sean Martin and Pierce Schubert had a vision to create an app that is not only easy to use, but also functional for the users. We were honored to work with them to achieve their goal. It is no surprise to us at DevDigital that they were honored at the ABA Techshow in Chicago and voted as one of the top three legal technology startups!
Time Miner launches first of...
Last month, the social media giant, Facebook, notified 87 million of its users that their personal data had been breached. These users personal information was accessed by Cambridge Analytica, a data-mining firm. Their plan of attack was through the use of a third-party quiz app to gain personal information about Facebook users in an effort to build psychological profiles to target voters with political ads. Facebook is now responding to this unfortunate breach in security by providing their users with the information that the third-party apps are using and how to delete them.
To prevent this catastrophic leak of personal data from happening again, the European Union is putting forth a piece of legislation that could have a big impact on some of the biggest technology firms, Google and Facebook. This piece of legislation titled the GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation) was approved...
What is the Bourbon Street Reservation System?
The Bourbon Street Blues Reservation System is a web based app that enables Bourbon Street Blues guests to make automated seat reservations for specific seats during specific time periods. Prior to creating the Reservation System, guests were filling out a contact form on the Bourbon Street Blues website requesting specific times and seats. A manager was then responding to each email individually and either letting each guest know that "Yes, their reservation is confirmed" or "No, the seats and times requested were not available.” When a seat was not available, there was a lot of back and forth with the guest trying to find different seating or times.
The process was very time consuming; our manager was probably spending 20-25 hours per week (7 days a week) just responding to reservation emails. Bourbon Street Blues did a lot of research...
1.) Your website is not responsive.
Having a responsive website is key when developing a new website. If your site is not mobile friendly, Google will ding your site and push you down the search list.
2.) Your website was built using Flash.
Flash is a thing of the past, web developers are no longer using Flash when creating website. If your site still runs on Flash it's time to start thinking about a new website.
3.) Your website was built more than 4 years ago.
Web design is constantly evolving, and your website should evolve to have the latest and greatest design! Visitors to your site want to be greeted with a fresh design and not feel like they are browsing the internet in the early 2000’s.
4.) You tried to create your website yourself but found the “Do it yourself sites” confusing and inefficient.
After you spend a few hours on these sites, you will realize...
